British Soldiers unlawfully killed
20.5.2011

The Coroner for Wiltshire and Swindon today found that 5 British soldiers from 1st Battalion, Grenadier Guards and the Royal Military Police were unlawfully killed on 3 November 2009 while on active service in Afghanistan. The five were shot and killed by a rogue member of the Afghan National Police whilst inside a checkpoint compound in Helmand known as 'Blue 25'. The checkpoint was being co-manned by the British Army and the ANP under the policy of 'embedded partnering'. Philip Stott acted pro bono for the family of one of the killed soldiers, Corporal Steven Boote RMP, having been asked to assist them by the Royal British Legion's Independent Inquest Advice Service.
