Philip Stott appears for prosecution in conviction of kidnappers jailed for 63 years at Old Bailey

On 15 May 2015, 4 men were sentenced at the Central Criminal Court for a total of 63 years for carrying out a series of kidnaps in 2013. Philip Stott was instructed as junior prosecution counsel, led by Timothy Hunter of Atkinson Bevan Chambers. The trial was in relation to kidnaps, false imprisonment, torture and ransom demands in respect of 2 men, Rubel Miah, who was kidnapped on 3 May 2013, and Jack Edjourian, who was kidnapped on 5 May 2013. The defendants were sentenced as follows: Courtney Bishop (who was involved in both kidnaps) - 24 years, his twin brother Nigel Bishop - 14 years, Allan Smith – 11 years and Keith Walker – 14 years. The fifth defendant, Christopher White, is due to be sentenced later. All 5 defendants were convicted after a trial lasting 2 months in front of HHJ Moss QC.
