Fraud: Intellectual Property

Several of our barristers are regarded as leading experts in the field of intellectual property crime. We are instructed in the majority of leading criminal trademark and copyright cases.

As part of our commitment to excellence in this area of practice, we have established a specialist team of barristers working in the area of intellectual property - the Intellectual Property Practice Group.

In addition to prosecuting offences under the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, we are regularly instructed in private prosecutions for infringement of copyright on behalf of both trade organisations - particularly those involved in digital media - and other individual brand owners, including:

  • The Federation Against Copyright Theft (FACT)
  • The British Phonographic Industry
  • The British Film Industry
  • Virgin Media
  • BSkyB

Members of our Intellectual Property Practice Group regularly provide training in intellectual property and trading standards law and practice.
