Ian Paton has an extensive and varied practice in all areas of criminal law, appearing for both prosecution and defence.

He has expertise in murder, manslaughter, attempted murder, robbery and firearms offences.

Ian Paton has particular experience and expertise as a barrister for the entire range of sexual offences, having prosecuted and defended offences ranging from individual and gang assaults to historic family abuse.

Ian Paton has been instructed in fraudulent trading, mortgage frauds, investment frauds, credit card frauds, diversion frauds, bankruptcy offences, VAT and revenue frauds.
