Summary
Crime
John Lynch’s principal area of practice is general crime, appearing in the Court of Appeal, Crown Court, Youth Court and Magistrates' Court. He has experience in a wide variety of cases, including kidnap, grievous bodily harm, sexual assault, robbery, immigration offences, road traffic matters, fraud and drugs.
Regulatory
From January to April 2009, John was seconded to the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) where he presented cases before the Investigative Committee, the Conduct and Competence Committee and the Health Committee. Following his secondment, he has developed a burgeoning regulatory practice. John has been instructed by the General Medical Council, the General Dental Council, the General Social Care Council, the Security Industry Authority and the General Chiropractic Council. For the defence, he has been instructed by the Royal College of Nursing in numerous cases before the Conduct and Competence and Health Committees of the NMC.
Public Law
Since April 2010, John has been instructed by the Government as part of the defence team in an action for damages brought by a number of British nationals and residents formerly detained in Guantanamo Bay.
Other
John advises on all aspects of criminal and regulatory law, with a particular interest in criminal aspects of European Union Law.
John has lectured on regulatory law, and regularly gives advocacy training to Police Federation representatives.
