Kyan joined QEB Hollis Whiteman in September 2016 for an 18-month pupillage.

During her first six months, Kyan assisted her pupil supervisor, Paul Raudnitz, in the preparation of a range of matters including both the prosecution and defence of cases of rape and other sexual offences, the prosecution of a number of homicide cases, a large-scale sex trafficking operation, immigration fraud and international bribery.

Kyan has also regularly assisted other members of Chambers in case preparation and legal research on a range of matters, including pre-charge advice of health and safety matters, judicial review of police misconduct and financial crime more generally.

Previous Experience

Prior to joining QEB Hollis Whiteman, Kyan worked as a legal assistant for BCL Burton Copeland for two years, whilst completing the BPTC course part-time.

Kyan assisted with a large number of matters, including a number of historic sex abuse cases, a large-scale SFO investigation and trial, international bribery and health and safety matters. Of particular note, Kyan assisted in the defence of one of the defendants in the Barclays Libor trial.

Kyan was also involved in advising social networking and communications corporations, and developed an understanding of the complex nature of cybersecurity laws both in this country and internationally. She assisted with a number of papers, including the UK Chapter of Getting the Deal Through: Cybersecurity 2014 and 2015.

Kyan also spent 9 months as a part-time paralegal at Turpin & Miller LLP and part-time researcher for a barrister at Essex Court Chambers.

Kyan is fluent in French and German, and conversational in Farsi and Spanish.
