Overview

Ruth joined QEB Hollis Whiteman in September 2016 for an eighteen-month pupillage. She accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ work.

During the first six months of pupillage Ruth assisted her pupil supervisor, Karen Robinson, in the preparation of a number of serious and complex cases including: a terrorism trial, part of which was heard in camera; the trial of two men alleged to have given cash to one of the suspects in the Paris and Brussels terror attacks and the trial of a company director charged with two counts of manslaughter and his company, charged with breaching s.6 of the HSWA, following the collapse of a large bi-fold door that killed two men.

Ruth regularly assists other members of Chambers with legal research and the preparation of cases on a diverse range of topics, including criminal and regulatory matters. Of particular note, Ruth has assisted members of Chambers with legal submissions on cheating the public revenue, routes of challenge to the decision of the CIMA disciplinary committee and witness anonymity applications.
