Thomas Waeling found guilty of 'random' attempted murder in Hastings. Philip Stott prosecutes.

A jury at Lewes Crown Court today found Thomas Waeling guilty of attempted murder in a case prosecuted by Philip Stott.

Mr Waeling had taken a large knife from a friends house and gone out on the streets in Hastings in the early evening of 15 May 2023, telling his friend that he was going ‘to stab someone’. He had then randomly attacked a 50-year old woman (unknown to him) who was walking down Bohemia Road, Hastings with two large bags of shopping from Lidl, stabbing her to the arm and the front centre of her chest, causing her lung to collapse. She was airlifted to Brighton Hospital and fortunately survived.

Mr Waeling is due to be sentenced on 26 January 2024.
