OR v Commissioner of the Met Police (2023)

Tom successfully represented a young man in his appeal under s.44 of the Firearms Act 1968 against a decision by the police to refuse him a firearms licence.

OR’s application had been refused because of declarations he had made in his form about past struggles with alcohol. OR had been a GB shooter and wanted to get back into the sport. After a hearing at Southwark Crown Court OR was successful, and the court overturned the Police’s decision for the most part. He was granted a firearms licence on set conditions.
