R v X (14 year old youth) (2023)

Tom was instructed to represent a young man of 16 with autism. X was 14 at the time of his alleged offending and was tried in the Youth Court at Oxford.

X was said to have sexually assaulted his 5 year old cousin by licking her vagina and touching her vagina while babysitting her. X denied doing this. Both X and the complainant were assisted by intermediaries. Following extensive disclosure about the complainant's past, triggered by a defence statement, and reduced to agreed facts, X was acquitted after his trial.
