Solicitors Regulation Authority v Dowd (2016)

Selva Ramasamy was instructed to bring this private prosecution for the SRA - an example of an interface between his regulatory and fraud practices.

The defendant had been struck off the roll but had continued to hold himself out as a solicitor, acting in a commercial dispute and misleading the public and legal professionals, whilst making financial gain. An immediate custodial sentence was imposed, together with an order for prosecution costs.
