R v A (2018)

Zara Brawley successfully applied to allow A, an elderly man of good character, to withdraw his guilty plea to possessing a false identity document under the Identity Documents Act 2010.

The police, CPS, District Judge and A’s previous solicitors had all failed to realise that the document in A’s possession was not a document to which that Act applied.

The CPS, following written submissions on A’s behalf, did not oppose the application and agreed not to pursue any further charges.

Zara was instructed by Shaw Graham Kersh.
