    Eloise has been instructed since 2015 as disclosure counsel by the Bribery and Corruption Division of the Serious Fraud Office in a large-scale, high-profile, multi-jurisdictional investigation.  She was elevated in her role after impressing lawyers leading the team.

    Eloise’s practice, both public and privately instructed, encompasses the full range of criminal offences and continues to grow steadily. She has successfully defended clients in Magistrates and Crown Courts across London, and further afield, in matters including; GBH, County Lines Drug Possession with Intent to Supply and Cuckooing; Sexual Assault; Human Trafficking and Modern Slavery, and sophisticated Frauds involving hundreds of thousands of pounds. 

    Eloise is regularly instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service as a Grade 3 Prosecutor, both in her own right and as a led junior, and has developed a reputation for her ability to make and deal with complex legal arguments. As a led junior, Eloise has appeared in the prosecution of two children in a manslaughter trial raising novel points of law at Croydon Crown Court; in a long running, multi-handed, kidnap, false imprisonment, GBH and supply of drugs case; and in the successful prosecution of a gang of young men for the attempted murder of two former child refugees in a sustained and savage attack in Kensington.

    This year, Eloise has been instructed in a number of sensitive and complex cases with regards to fitness to plead and insanity, where the Defendant’s mental health or significant learning disability, has required the evidence of multiple medical Expert Witnesses. 

    She recently appeared as led Junior Counsel for Claudia Patatas, on trial at Birmingham Crown Court, charged with membership of the proscribed organisation, National Action.

    Eloise represented Che Stephens on Thursday 19th September 2018 at Luton Crown Court.

    R v NS (2017)
    Eloise Emanuel has represented the defendant since November 2016 across three separate trials. In the instant trial, the defendant faced a number of very serious offences including Human Trafficking.

    R v Wilcox (2016)
    Represented a defendant who faced an allegation of inflicting grievous bodily harm in a vicious and unprovoked attack on a man in a street in the early hours of the morning. Mr Wilcox was acquitted by the jury following trial.

    R v McLaughlin (2015)
    Defended a client charged with Racially Aggravated Assault by Beating, Racially Aggravated Intentional Harassment, Alarm or Distress and Criminal Damage. Following successful legal argument, the Prosecution offered no evidence on Count 2. Mr McLaughlin was acquitted of the remaining 2 counts in under 17 minutes.

    R v Hajila and Others (2016)
    Led by Ian Paton in the prosecution of a 6 week trial of 3 young men who violently attacked 2 vulnerable men in their home. Ahmed Hajila, Rehan Ullah and Aymen Hajila, were variously convicted of Attempted Murder, Conspiracy to Rob, and Causing Grievous Bodily Harm with Intent.

    R v Zambon (2015)
    Represented Dillon Zambon, the youngest of a gang of armed robbers who hit the headlines when they raided a Norwich jeweller.

    R v De La Roche (2014)
    Represented Mr De La Roche, who pleaded guilty to failing to notify a change of circumstances, that he and his wife were in gainful employment, to the Department of Work and Pensions. The client received a conditional discharge.

    R v Gikawa (2014)
    Peter Finnigan QC and Eloise Emanuel were instructed by CPS London, in the 4 week trial of  David Gikawa, who was sentenced at the Central Criminal Court to life imprisonment with a minimum of 21 years for the murder of Linah Keza.

    Eloise has regulatory experience across various industries.  She has been instructed to defend in a number of police disciplinary matters across London and further afield, much of her work has been by word-of-mouth and recommendation by serving police officers.

    Eloise is also regularly instructed by the Security Industry Authority to prosecute appeals by licensees against decisions of the SIA in discharging its duties in regards to the compulsory licensing of individuals undertaking designated activities.

    Eloise has presented applications and reviews for interim and substantive orders on behalf of the Nursing and Midwifery Council  as well as hearings. Her experience with the NMC means that she is familiar with the legal principles underpinning all healthcare regulators, including the General Medical Council.

    Eloise has experience of working with Trading Standards teams.  During pupillage she won an award for an article she co-authored for the industry publication, TS Today.
