Kerry Broome prosecuted four defendants who were charged with the kidnap and torture of an acquaintance, who was held for a number of hours, tortured and assaulted with a firearm.
The sentences imposed at first instance were successfully referred to the Court of Appeal and increased. Kerry Broome was unusually instructed by the Law Officers to present the reference – usually the reserve of Treasury Counsel.
Three of the four charged were convicted.
