R v Gul (appellant) (2013)

Sean Larkin QC successfully led the prosecution in this appeal in which the Supreme Court.

Considered for the first time the definition of terrorism in the context of international law and conventions incorporated into domestic law.

The Court ruled that although it had concerns about the width of the definition, covering as it may 'activities by the victims of oppression abroad, which might command a measure of public understanding, and even support in this country', it could not be restricted.
