Overview
Anna joined chambers in September 2023 and was called to the Bar by Middle Temple in July 2021.
Experience
Before starting pupillage, Anna worked on US death penalty cases at the charity Amicus ALJ. She assisted in the preparation of documents for trial and appeal, which entailed reviewing evidence such as trial transcripts, surveillance footage and crime scene photos.
Prior to this, Anna undertook a placement in Dallas, Texas, working on State and Federal Habeas appeals in capital cases. She drafted claims to the US Supreme Court on issues including insanity and racial bias, and led a research project into the effect of environmental contamination on neurological functioning.
Anna interned at the Sentencing Academy in 2021 during which she published a paper exploring the practical issues in the application of the Overarching Principles on Domestic Abuse. She also co-authored a literature review on mental health and sentencing. As of March 2023, Anna is a trustee of the Sentencing Academy.
Anna’s other legal experience includes pro bono advice and representation in civil cases concerning matters such as housing, benefits and domestic abuse. She regularly advised defendants within Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court and volunteered with Help Refugees UK, spending time assisting refugees in Calais.
