QEB Hollis Whiteman hosts aspiring young advocates for Mock Trial

On Thursday 20th March, QEB Hollis Whiteman was delighted to welcome students from Bacon’s College for an immersive mock trial. The event provided students with an opportunity to step into the shoes of barristers and experience a court environment with a Judge, witnesses, court officials and a jury.

The mock trial allowed the students to argue a specially designed case before a Judge and a jury – made up of a panel of QEB Hollis Whiteman barristers, some of whom had previously guided the students through the advocacy process in a preparatory session taking place a week prior.

The students, who prepared diligently for their roles, demonstrated enthusiasm and impressive advocacy skills. The event itself highlighted the importance of confidence-building and the value of engaging directly with legal professionals for the students – many of which we hope to see pursue a career in law.

This mock trial initiative forms part of QEB Hollis Whiteman’s ongoing commitment to ED&I, ensuring that the Bar becomes more representative and accessible to all. QEB Hollis Whiteman extends its thanks to all those who volunteered their time to make the mock trial a success.
