At Sky’s Head Office seminar on Covert Evidence and Surveillance held on 11 November 2025, Ari Alibhai of QEB Hollis Whiteman addressed the interplay between covert evidence and private prosecutions.
The seminar aimed to promote national best practice for covert investigations across the industry and to establish a framework for information sharing. To achieve this, there was a diverse panel offering different viewpoints - including Jayne Secker of Sky News.
Drawing on his extensive experience in criminal intellectual property infringements and advising and representing major clients across broadcast and film, Ari’s session focused on the legality of evidence collected through covert tactics, its significance in prosecuting intellectual property offences and, key considerations when presenting such evidence.
The seminar provided an opportunity to share expertise, highlight legal considerations in covert investigations, and promote collaborative approaches to complex enforcement challenges.
