The Police Federation of England and Wales warned its members that there is no exemption from prosecution for careless or dangerous driving for police drivers responding to an emergency call.
Mark Aldred, who specialises in such cases, commented "...there is no protection for dangerous and careless driving ... The consequences of that might be that they [emergency response drivers] take a lot longer to respond. What you will see is delayed response times."
