It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden death of our dear friend and colleague, Nick Wood.
Nick was a much loved and respected member of Chambers at QEB. He was unfailingly kind, generous with his time, and an infallible source of careful, informed advice to all. He helped countless pupils and junior tenants to negotiate their early days in practice, always ready to help, encourage and support.
On the Bench he was the same man as he had been at the Bar. Patient, good-humoured and fair, he was an outstanding judge, liked and respected as much by those who appeared in front of him as he was by his judicial colleagues.
Nick’s willingness to come back to QEB to offer advice and guidance to our pupils was characteristic of his generosity, and we were always glad to see him. He was a thoroughly decent man and we will miss him greatly. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family, and share wholly in the sadness of his many friends.
A funeral service will take place on Friday 27 February 2026 at Mortlake Crematorium from 15:20-16:00
The funeral will be followed by a gathering at the Botanist on Kew Green.
The capacity of both venues is limited so please kindly let us know if you will be attending via completing this poll. We ask that you complete the poll by 13 February to allow time for planning. Thank you.
A charity donation page in Nick's memory has been organised. If desired, donations will be gratefully received by Leeds United Foundation: Funeral Details Lodge Brothers - Funeral Directors
