As part of the Inquiry's July hearings, Thomas Coke-Smyth examined Chloe Cawston, former Matron at Basildon Mental Health Unit. Evidence addressed matters including patient transfer procedures, ward culture, record keeping and the care provided to Bethany Lilley prior to her death in 2019.
The Lampard Inquiry is examining the deaths of mental health inpatients in Essex between 2000 and 2023 and continues to hear evidence from former staff, bereaved families and other witnesses.
