Rhys Meggy appears at the Court of Appeal in tax evasion

Rhys Meggy barrister at QEB Hollis Whiteman represented DC, a renovator of luxury properties, in his successful appeal against sentence at the Court of Appeal. His sentence was reduced from 3 to 2 years' imprisonment.

At Southwark Crown Court DC had previously pleaded guilty to evading the VAT and income tax liability on contracts in Paris and London worth £1.4million. The underlying case had involved complex issues of quantum, arising from the conflict between UK and French tax laws and other regulations relating to work on listed properties.

Rhys Meggy appeared at all levels to the Court of Appeal, instructed by Harry Travers and Greg Mailer of BCL Solicitors LLP.
