Sir David Calvert-Smith Reappointed to Parole Board

QEB Hollis Whiteman acknowledges the reappointment of Sir David Calvert-Smith as a judicial member of the Parole Board for England and Wales. His next term will run from 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2027.

The Parole Board is an independent body sponsored by the Ministry of Justice. It is responsible for determining whether prisoners can be safely released into the community, playing a vital role in maintaining public protection and supporting the integrity of the criminal justice system.

Sir David brings decades of legal experience to the role. A former High Court Judge, he retired from the Bench in 2013 following a distinguished career which included positions as Director of Public Prosecutions, Chair of the Criminal Bar Association, Panelled Counsel to the Serious Fraud Office, and the first Senior Treasury Counsel. He previously served as Chair of the Parole Board from 2012 to 2016.

Sir David is an Honourary Member of QEB Hollis Whiteman, and his continued public service reflects long-standing commitment to excellence and leadership in the law.
