Philip Stott prosecutes MP who pleads guilty to committing expenses offences

Philip Stott prosecuted Chris Davies, MP for Brecon and Radnorshire, today at Westminster Magistrates’ Court.

Mr Davies pleaded guilty to two offences: contravening  section 10 of the Parliamentary Standards Act 2009 and attempting to contravene section 10 of the Parliamentary Standards Act 2009.

It is believed to be the first time an MP has been prosecuted for that offence.

The offences relate to two invoices falsely created by Mr Davies in March and April 2016 for submission to the Parliamentary expenses scheme. The Magistrates’ Court committed Mr Davies on bail to Southwark Crown Court where he will be sentenced at a future date.
