R v KP (2022)

Tom represented KP at his re-trial at Hove Trial Centre and secured the clients acquittal. Tom had represented KP at his original trial in 2020 in which the jury were hung.

KP, an Albanian national, was arrested at a flat in Eastbourne with another at which cocaine, business cards, and numerous phones were found. KP accepted that dealing was going on from the flat, but said that he wasn’t personally involved. The case involved much forensic evidence. The jury acquitted KP. Much of the forensic evidence was neutralised in cross examination of the officers at the scene, who had failed to follow proper procedures for avoiding cross-contamination and secondary transfer.

Tom was instructed by Simon Jowett of Tank Jowett.
