Eleanor Laws KC represents client charged with seven rape and sexual assault offences

Client A was charged with seven offences relating to four separate incidents. A and the complainants were part of a social group of co-workers and often met at the family home of A. Memebers of the group would often stay over after a social event and all alleged offences are said to have taken place at A's home. A's defence was that there had been consensual sexual intercourse between him and one of the complainants; with regard to the other alleged offences, he denied they had taken place, stating that he was prone to falling asleep and then becoming disorientated due to the consumption of alcohol.

A was found not guilty after a trial lasting eight days.

Eleanor Laws KC was instructed by Vivian Cochrane of Shearman Bowen Solicitors.
