Paul Raudnitz KC concludes Lincolnshire Care Home abuse case

A care worker who filmed himself raping elderly care home residents suffering with dementia has been jailed for 21 years.

Care assistant Joshua Springer, 36, attacked three victims at a home in the Stamford area of Lincolnshire and a fourth, younger, victim in North Yorkshire.

The victims were all particularly vulnerable, and each was specifically targeted because of their inability to communicate their abuse.

The complex investigation was led by the East Midlands Special Operations Unit and examined evidence going back a number of years across a range of care settings nationally.

Following the sentence, Det Ch Insp Jennifer Lovatt paid tribute to the "women at the centre of this case and their families".

"Springer abused a position of trust and used the access he had to attack some of the most vulnerable people in our society."

Paul Raudnitz KC led for the Prosecution, instructed by Michael Coles of the CPS.
