Thomas Coke-Smyth Prosecutes Burglary of Anya Taylor-Joy

Kirk Holdrick pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court to burglary following a break-in at a London property where actress Anya Taylor-Joy and her husband, Malcolm McRae, were staying in February 2023.

The court heard that Holdrick was one of two masked men who smashed a side window to gain entry to the property. Mr McRae confronted the intruders before barricading himself and his wife inside a bedroom, which the men attempted to force open. The intruders fled the scene empty-handed.

Holdrick, 43, from Borehamwood, Hertfordshire, was later arrested after his DNA was linked to the scene. He initially claimed he had previously attended a party at the property but abandoned this account and pleaded guilty to burglary in December 2024.

In November 2024, Holdrick had been sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment for a separate armed robbery in Dorset. He was sentenced to three years imprisonment for the London burglary.

The case was prosecuted by Thomas Coke-Smyth of QEB Hollis Whiteman.

Thomas Coke-Smyth was instructed by the Crown Prosecution Service.
