R v D (2020)

Defendant acquitted of all charges in a case concerning historic sexual abuse said to have spanned a decade.

D was charged with seven counts of historic sexual abuse of a family member. The Crown’s case was that over the course of the 1990s the Defendant and his father (originally co-accused but deceased at the time of trial) had systematically abused the Complainant when he would stay at their house to attend soccer schools which the Defendant’s father ran in conjunction with Arsenal FC. Nadesh, instructed as sole counsel for the Defence, secured acquittals on all counts.
