Dorothy Moorley

  • Dorothy joined chambers in September 2025. Her pupil supervisor is Katherine Lloyd. 

    Experience

    Before starting pupillage, Dorothy was a Research Associate at the Sentencing Academy. She is the lead author on an upcoming report on the future of deferred sentencing in England and Wales.

    Whilst on the bar course, Dorothy helped to run a free weekly advocacy service for adults with complex needs in her local community with the charity Grace Advocacy. In this role, she successfully represented vulnerable clients at appeal hearings in the First-tier Tribunal (Social Entitlement Chamber). Dorothy also volunteered with Amicus ALJ, assisting with empirical projects and providing remote assistance to individuals facing the death penalty in the US. This included reviewing evidence such as medical records, mobile forensics evidence and trial transcripts.

    Dorothy has previously worked as a Parliamentary Assistant to a Member of Parliament. Her responsibilities included constituency casework, advocacy to the Government and research, particularly on matters related to freedom of religion or belief.
