Overview
Katie McLean became a member of chambers in February 2025, following successful completion of her pupillage.
Experience
Katie has a growing criminal practice, and is regularly instructed to both prosecute and defend in the magistrates’, youth and Crown Courts. Katie has experience in a range of criminal offences, including violent offences, driving offences, and financial crime. She is confident at each stage of the criminal process, from first appearance to appeal.
Katie is also building experience in professional regulation, including representing the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
Prior to joining QEB Hollis Whiteman, Katie was a High Court Judge’s clerk at the Royal Courts of Justice. She was previously paralegal for the in-house legal team at Oxfam GB, and a casework volunteer for Amicus ALJ.
Katie is a former public speaking and debating coach, and regularly worked with young people from a variety of backgrounds. This has assisted her in building relationships with young clients and in her approach to advocacy during examination of vulnerable people, whether prosecuting or defending.
