SEXUAL OFFENCES LAW: THE REBOOT
New offences, the changing legal landscape and the impact of AI
Eleanor Laws KC and Georgina Jenkins will examine key developments in this area:
- New and revised sexual offences: Crime and Policing Act 2026, hailed by the MoJ as the most significant reform to sexual offences legislation since the Sexual Offences Act 2003, including AI and deep fake related offences, new intimate images and offences relating to children.
- The developing role of independent legal advice and representation for complainants.
- Impact of AI on the trial process and recent case law.
The session brings together leading expertise in this field. Eleanor Laws KC is recognised as one of the foremost authorities on sexual offences and has appeared in some of the most complex and high-profile cases in this area.
She will be joined by Georgina Jenkins, an experienced criminal practitioner who is regularly instructed as her junior in serious and complex sexual offence cases. Georgina has prosecuted and defended across the full spectrum of sexual offences, both as sole and junior counsel.
Eleanor Laws KC and Georgina Jenkins are currently working on the latest edition of the Sexual Offences Referencer, the established practitioner text in the field, the fourth edition of which will be published early next year.
