Nicholas Corsellis KC and Paul Wakerley of QEB Hollis Whiteman, led the prosecution in the case of Maureen Rickards, who has been found guilty of murdering her husband, Jeremy Rickards, before concealing his body in the garden of a property in Canterbury.

The trial at Canterbury Crown Court lasted four weeks, during which the Jury heard evidence of sustained domestic abuse culminating in Jeremy Rickard’s violent death. Extensive expert evidence was called including: Entomology, DNA, image comparison and pathology.

Both Nicholas Corsellis KC and Paul Wakerley presented a prosecution case detailing how Maureen Rickards inflicted fatal stab wounds on her husband, stored his body in a cupboard for several days, and later disposed of it in the garden within a bag – attempting to conceal the crime.

Nicholas Corsellis KC, addressing the jury, outlined how the defendant’s actions demonstrated intent to kill. Overwhelming forensic and circumstantial evidence in addition to Rickard’s own words recorded in the days leading up to the incident were pointed out as proof of her guilt.
