Rachna Gokani acts for prominent huntsman in successful appeal against conviction for encouraging unlawful hunting

Rachna Gokani was instructed to represent Mark Hankinson, former Director of the Masters of Foxhounds Association, in his appeal to the Crown Court against his conviction for encouraging the commission of an offence of unlawful hunting contrary to s.44 of the Serious Crime Act 2007.

In allowing his appeal, the Court accepted Ms Gokani’s submission that Mr Hankinson's role within the Hunting Office (now the British Hound Sports Association) was to ensure compliance with the law and that that the Hunting Office is itself committed to lawful hunting.
