Alex Mullen Prosecutes 'Ruthless' Thief who Targeted Bridgerton Star

Alex Mullen appeared on behalf of the Crown at the sentencing of Zacariah Boulares, an 18-year-old described as a “prolific” and “ruthless” offender, following a series of targeted thefts across central London.

Boulares attempted to steal the mobile phone of actress Genevieve Chenneour, known for her role in Bridgerton, during an incident at a Joe & the Juice café. He had also stolen from a blind couple at a Five Guys restaurant and from another victim dining at Pizza Pilgrims.

Boulares had previously targeted singer and broadcaster Aled Jones in a similar incident.

In his submissions, Alex Mullen outlined the impact of the offences on the victims, many of whom expressed ongoing fear, anxiety, and concerns for their safety following the incidents. The court also viewed CCTV footage of the offences, including scenes showing Boulares approaching and attempting to take items while victims were distracted.

Following the hearing Boulares was sentenced to a total of 22 months' custody by the Honorary Recorder of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
