Alex Mullen of QEB Hollis Whiteman appeared on behalf of the Teaching Regulation Agency considering the case of James Wall, a teacher, alleged to have acted sexually towards two pupils.
The case concerned Mr Wall's work at Lucton School from 2013 until 2022. He was alleged to have sent messages to a pupil of a sexual nature, requested photographs and gave expensive gifts.
He was further alleged to have made inappropriate and sexually motivated physical contact with a pupil which involved touching her breasts.
Mr Wall contested the matter, including denying that the conduct was sexually motivated and that he had lacked integrity and/or been dishonest in his dealings with the pupil.
The Panel agreed with Alex's submissions, finding the majority of disputed allegations proved and that the conduct amounted to both unacceptable professional conduct and conduct that may bring the teaching profession into disrepute.
Mr Wall was prohibited from teaching indefinitely.
