Anne Whyte KC and Arabella MacDonald are prosecuting the trial of former Cambridgeshire Police sergeant Paul Street at the Central Criminal Court.
Paul Street is charged with one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, one count of perverting the course of justice and two counts of misconduct in public office. The allegations arise from events said to have occurred during his service with Cambridgeshire Constabulary in 2020 and 2021.
The allegations include the excessive use of force, the alteration of witness statements, inappropriate conduct towards a 17-year-old detainee, and the mishandling of sensitive personal material recovered during a police investigation.
Paul Street denies the charges.
The trial continues at the Old Bailey.
Anne and Arabella were instructed by the Special Crime Division of the Crown Prosecution Unit.
