Four members of an organised criminal network have been sentenced to a total of 19 years’ imprisonment at Kingston Crown Court for a series of high-value burglaries across London and Hertfordshire.
Between January 2020 and January 2025, the group carried out more than 100 burglaries, targeting convenience stores, jewellers, electronics shops and department stores. The value of the goods stolen and the cost of damage caused was estimated at around £2 million.
The defendants used stolen high-performance vehicles to carry out the burglaries, forcing entry with equipment including chainsaws and angle grinders. Stolen property was stored in a variety of locations, including a churchyard and an outbuilding in Hertfordshire.
Following extensive investigation by the Metropolitan Police’s Flying Squad which included surveillance, forensic work, and the review of hundreds of hours of CCTV -Officers ambushed the gang as they returned from a raid on an electronics store. Logan and Morgan were caught in possession of stolen goods, an angle grinder and high-powered electric bikes; Northover was arrested weeks later. Bennett was arrested separately after police discovered £80,000 of stolen silverware hidden at his home. The defendants pleaded guilty.
The sentences were as follows:
- Lewis Northover, 31, of Brent – six years and nine months’ imprisonment, plus a Serious Crime Prevention Order
- Scott Logan, 36, of Islington – six years and nine months’ imprisonment, plus a Serious Crime Prevention Order
- Sean Bennett, 38, of Hatfield – four years and ten months’ imprisonment, in addition to a £2,550 cash seizure after £80,000 of stolen silverware was found at his address
- Sachon Morgan, 33, of Cricklewood – two years and seven months’ imprisonment
