Ben Fitzgerald represented the GMC in a FTP hearing into the conduct of Dr Julian Kenyon who charged severely ill cancer patients for an unconventional and largely unproven treatment known as Sono Photo Dynamic Therapy.
On 1 September 2014, the FTP Panel concluded that Dr Kenyon was guilty of making misleading statements about the effectiveness of SPDT to one terminally ill patient and to an undercover journalist, who was posing as the husband of a seriously ill cancer patient. The Panel will go on to consider whether Dr Kenyon’s fitness to practise is impaired at a resumed hearing of the case in December 2014.
