Kathryn Hughes acts for the SRA in SDT Disciplinary Proceedings leading to strike-off

Kathryn Hughes acted for the Solicitors Regulation Authority in proceedings before the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal concerning Kieran Ferguson, a junior solicitor at Ashurst, arising from an insurance claim following the theft of a bicycle.

The Tribunal found that Mr Ferguson knowingly submitted a claim for a bicycle that was not covered by the policy, subsequently amended the policy in an attempt to create the appearance of cover, and later made deliberately untrue or misleading statements to his insurers. It found that his conduct was dishonest, lacked integrity and undermined public trust, and ordered that he be struck off the Roll and pay the SRA’s costs of £20,757.
