Nicholas Corsellis KC and Ruth Broadbent acted for the defendant and secured her acquittal for murder, following her earlier plea of guilty to manslaughter by diminished responsibility, arising from the death of her 86-year-old mother at their home in Devizes on Christmas Day 2025.
The defendant, who was the sole carer for her mother, strangled her during the night following a deterioration in both their mental health. She was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment.
Nicholas and Ruth were instructed by Tom Brymer of Reeds Solicitors.
