Philip McGhee of QEB Hollis Whiteman has prosecuted the case of R v Justin Clarke-Samuel at the Central Criminal Court, in which the defendant was sentenced on 3 March 2026 for causing death by dangerous driving and dangerous driving.
Mr Clarke-Samuel, also known professionally as Ghetts, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court to causing the death of 20-year-old Yubin Tamang and to a further count of dangerous driving arising from the same course of conduct. The charges related to a collision in October 2025, when the defendant drove while over the prescribed limit for alcohol, and at grossly excessive speed in an area where there was a 30mph limit, before striking Mr Tamang, who died later from his injuries.
Following conviction, Mr Clarke-Samuel was sentenced to 12 years’ imprisonment.
