Mrs Varghese is a Registered Nurse and was the Manager of a Nursing Home in the Rochdale area which closed following local authority and CQC investigations into poor care for the elderly residents.
She was the subject of FTP proceedings in the NMC, which were resolved by means of the new Consensual Panel Disposal procedure, the effect of which was to deprive the NMC’s Committee of the information it needed to make a properly informed disposal of the case. Ben FitzGerald advised the PSA on the merits of appeal and is instructed to represent the PSA before the Administrative Court. Based on his written pleadings, the NMC has conceded the appeal.
