Selva Ramasamy KC (leading Tim Naylor) acted for an individual in an inquiry under the Independent Complaints Process ["ICP”] set up by British Gymnastics in the wake of the Whyte Review.
In 2020, a significant number of gymnasts, and parents of gymnasts, made allegations about mistreatment or abuse within the sport of gymnastics. Concerns were raised that British Gymnastics had failed to deal appropriately with some complaints it had received. UK Sport and Sport England jointly commissioned Anne Whyte KC (then QC) to conduct a full review of the issues raised and to make recommendations ["the Whyte Review"]. The Whyte Review did not consider individual complaints. The ICP was designed to provide for the investigation of individual complaints by an independent person exercising powers delegated to them by British Gymnastics. British Gymnastics appointed Sport Resolutions Ltd to manage the process”.
The details of cases considered under the process are confidential.
Selva and Tim were instructed by Eve Giles and Hayley Humphries at A&O Shearman.
