R v Jack Ralph (2019)

Nadesh was led by Philip Bennetts QC, prosecuting Mr Ralph for the murder of two of his next door neighbours and the attempted murder of another. It was agreed that the Defendant was a paranoid schizophrenic. The Defence contended that the Defendant was insane, whereas the Crown’s psychiatrist concluded that he was not insane but had diminished responsibility.

The case was heard by Cheema-Grubb J. The Jury unanimously found that the Defendant was not insane, convicting him of two counts of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility and one count of attempted murder.
