R v N (2021)

Following a dawn raid at the defendant's home, by over a dozen police officers, Ms N was charged with two counts of possession with intent to supply. Ms N made immediate admissions to having a small quantity of cannabis for her personal use.

A lump of fudge was seized from Ms N's fridge and found to contain a small trace of cannabis oil. The Crown sought to charge the defendant based on the total weight of the fudge. Faraday's instructed an expert to challenge the true quantity, value and potency of the drugs seized. After lengthy representations, the Crown accepted a simple possession plea to a very small quantity of class B drugs. Ms N received a conditional discharge.
