SRA v Preston (2014)

Selva Ramasamy was instructed to conduct this private prosecution on behalf of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority.

Mr Preston had been struck off as a solicitor but thereafter had continued to act as a solicitor (contrary to section 20 of the Solicitors Act 1974) and had also conducted reserved legal activities (contrary to section 14 of the Legal Services Act 2007). The proceedings concluded with Mr Preston being sentenced to imprisonment and being ordered to pay the full costs occasioned by the SRA.
