Anne Whyte KC and Oliver Mosley prosecute former solicitor for sexual abuse of clients

Anne Whyte KC and Oliver Mosley prosecuted former Plymouth defence solicitor Alan Harris, who has been sentenced to 13 years’ imprisonment at Winchester Crown Court for sexually abusing vulnerable clients over a period spanning almost three decades.

After a five week trial, Harris, aged 72, was convicted of five counts of indecent assault and five counts of sexual assault against seven former clients, six men and one woman, with offending dating from 1988 to 2015. The court heard that he abused his position of trust as a solicitor, targeting clients during private consultations while they were in police custody or in magistrates court cells and at their most vulnerable.

Anne and Oliver were instructed by the CPS Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit.
