Members of QEB Hollis Whiteman played key roles in the prosecution and defence in the recent high-profile insider dealing and money laundering case involving former Janus Henderson analyst Redinel Korfuzi.
The case, brought by the Financial Conduct Authority, was heard at Southwark Crown Court and concluded on Thursday 19 June 2025 with the conviction of Korfuzi and his sister Oerta Korfuzi on both counts of conspiracy to insider deal and money laundering.
The conspiracy related to the misuse of confidential inside information on companies including Daimler, Jet2 and THG – generating nearly £1 million in illicit profits.
Tom Broomfield and Katherine Lloyd of QEB Hollis Whiteman were instructed by the FCA as part of the prosecution team, led by Tom Forster KC of Red Lion Chambers. Senghin Kong of QEB Hollis Whiteman represented Redinel Korfuzi.
The prosecution highlighted how the Covid-19 lockdowns were used as a cover for the trades, which were executed via accounts held by Oerta Korfuzi and others between February 2020 and March 2021.
The sentencing hearing is scheduled for 4 July 2025.
