R v KR (2016)

Eloise Emanuel was sole counsel for Mr R, a young man who faced an allegation of gang related, Joint Enterprise Armed Robbery.

It was alleged the Defendant, together with others unknown, had used the car in which they were travelling to run the Complainant's car off the road, before making threats to kill him at knifepoint and robbing him. The incident was alleged to have occurred in the early hours of June of this year, in a quiet residential street.

The Crown, in particular, prayed in aid Mr R's 7 previous convictions for robbery. Following a three day trial, Mr R was successfully, and unanimously, acquitted by the jury. Eloise was instructed by Shearman Bowen & Co Solicitors.
